Why now

From 2027, the tax office already has the numbers.

Since January 2026, crypto service providers report transaction data to the German Federal Central Tax Office. The first reporting period is calendar 2026, and that data arrives in 2027. What was booked and what was reported then have to match.

DAC8

EU-wide

The reporting duty follows an EU directive and applies across all member states, not only Germany. Implemented in Germany as the Kryptowerte-Steuertransparenzgesetz.

2026

First reporting period

Transactions occurring in 2026 are captured. Providers must obtain a tax self-disclosure from customers onboarded earlier by 1 January 2027, and file with the Federal Central Tax Office by 31 July 2027.

2027

Reconciliation becomes possible

The authority holds the data independently of your books. A traceable derivation for every entry stops being diligence and becomes the baseline.

For individuals and founders whose bank already asks where the funds came from: the free source-of-funds check reviews your crypto history entirely in your browser.

The problem

Money that moves like email. Ledgers that must satisfy the tax office.

Between a wallet and proper financial accounting sits a human with a spreadsheet. Every month.

01

No bank statement

A wallet produces transaction hashes, not journal entries. No ERP on earth can read a hash, and no bank sends a statement for these payments.

02

Valuation by hand

Every inflow must be valued in euro at the moment it arrives, with a documented rate source. Today that means: google the rate, open Excel, hope.

03

Two parallel ledgers

The crypto spreadsheet here, the financial books there. Someone rebuilds the bridge every month, and at year-end nobody trusts it.

04

Audit questions

Where did this rate come from? Who recorded this entry, and when? Without a complete audit trail, every audit becomes a very long week.

How it works

Three steps. Never touching your money.

01

Connect an address

You provide a public wallet address or a read-only exchange key. No signing rights, no private keys, no approvals.

0x7f3a…c412read-onlyStablewerk
02

Value and book

Every transaction is valued in euro at booking time, mapped to the right account, and booked with correct VAT, in SKR03 or SKR04. Deterministic rules with cited sources, never a black box.

Export to DATEV

Your tax firm receives an EXTF batch exactly as they know it, plus a reconciliation report and, behind every entry, the complete audit trail: hash, rate source, rule, approval.

Audit trail per entry

Every entry carries its hash, rate source, rule version and approval. Immutable, chained, ready for any audit.

Paid in stablecoins by a business elsewhere in the EU? Add a fourth: the Zusammenfassende Meldung for that quarter, the customer's VAT ID and amount already aggregated, ready for your tax firm to file.

For your tax firm

Your tax firm doesn't have to learn anything new.

Stablewerk hands your tax firm an EXTF batch exactly like the ones they see every month, plus a reconciliation report and the full audit trail behind every entry. They import the file like any other, no new tool, no new process.

Or skip the monthly handoff: your tax firm can log in directly, any time, for every Mandant you grant them. The seat is free and strictly read-only, they see every booking and the full audit trail, and cannot change anything.

Principles

Built like a tool for auditors, not like a crypto product.

no keys
no signing rights
no language models in the booking path
no data outside the eu

Read-only, never moving funds

Stablewerk holds no keys, has no signing rights, and cannot initiate any payment. It reads and it books. Nothing more, by architecture.

Data stays in the EU

Processing and storage exclusively on servers within the EU, GDPR-compliant. Your financial data never leaves Europe.

Deterministic, not AI magic

In the booking path, versioned rules with legal citations decide, never a language model. Same input, same entry, every time, traceable to the rule number.

Immutable audit trail

Every entry is cryptographically chained with hash, rate source, rule version and approval. Designed as if an auditor will read it tomorrow.

Common questions

The questions companies and tax firms ask us first.

Still wondering about something? hello@stablewerk.com, we reply personally.

Does Stablewerk need access to our wallets?
No. A public wallet address is enough, because the blockchain is a public register. For exchange accounts, a read-only API key suffices, exactly as every exchange provides for accounting purposes. Stablewerk can never move funds.
How do the entries reach our DATEV environment?
As an EXTF batch, the open import format every firm knows. You import the file like any other batch. A direct integration via DATEV data services is planned for a later stage.
Which rates are used for valuation?
Every transaction is valued at the moment of receipt, with the source and timestamp documented on the entry itself. Rate source and methodology are configurable and recorded in the audit trail, so every valuation remains traceable years later.
Is Stablewerk a crypto custodian or payment provider?
No, deliberately not. Stablewerk is accounting software. It custodies nothing, holds no keys, and initiates no payments. Exactly this architecture is what makes the tool so uncomplicated for tax firms to adopt.
Do we have to be a German company?
No. What matters is not where your company sits but which rules you report under. If you keep books in Germany, whether as the GmbH of a French, Dutch or Indian group, you get entries in SKR03 or SKR04 and an EXTF batch for your tax firm. If you report in France under PCG and need an FEC file, we are not the right tool for you yet.
When does Stablewerk launch, and for whom?
Stablewerk is in development. We are starting with a deliberately small founding circle: companies that already have stablecoin payments to book today, and tax firms guiding their clients - accompanied personally, free during the pilot phase, with founding-customer terms afterwards. Seats are allocated in order of enquiry.
The Founding Circle

Are you booking yet, or still reconstructing?

The Founding Circle is deliberately small: a handful of companies with real stablecoin payments, and tax firms guiding their clients through it. Free during the pilot phase, founding-customer terms afterwards, a direct line instead of a ticket system.
